For many of us, the Olympic events would be something exciting to watch on TV anytime in a time period of over two weeks. So, we would hardly give it a glance for some time mostly in news and would not even bother to watch one game completely. But, if we could just widen our thinking and sit to watch a game, I assure you that these games are really worth visiting for a fun-filled experience. Further, do not just stick to watching one game such as favoring only hockey, but give other games a chance too. This article lists the top 10 Olympic Games that men should view.
Men’s Biathlon – 20 km, Individual
This is a very challenging sport for moving at a fast rate and its shooting the 50 m away targets is really a bodily exploitation after considerable exhaustion. Watch out for the Norway’s Ole Einar Bjorndalen from mid-Feb, who has already taken away four gold medals in 2002.
Men’s Skeleton – Finals
This headlong sleigh had made a promising comeback in the Olympics of 2002 after a halt of 50 years. Making many supporters in no time, the sliders catch up with the speeds of 80 miles per hour. Just sitting and admiring the risky speed is thrilling. The main hero of this sport is the American Matt Antoine of just 24 who struggled hard to obtain a medal at the Whistler skeleton in World Cup.
Ladies’ Ski Cross – Finals
Do not miss this new great event as it deserves to be in your do watch list as it is one of the powerful contest. In this competition, you will see four skiers simultaneously racing via a BMX-like route packed with bends, jumps, and dips. Already having two finishers in advance, this racing continues until all have taken their turn. Watch for the Canadian Julia Murray who is just 19.
Four-Man’s Bobsleigh – Finals
What makes this sport unique is the players are in a team rather than individual players to win the medal for their group. It makes an appealing view when four competitors as one group run on an icy slope to jump on a sled running 93.2 miles per hour. Chasing this fast and risky competition, the game’s thrill can be enjoyed with Steven Holcomb and John Napier.
Nordic Combined – Team Relay
This is quite quick and thrilling competition if you compare it to watching cross-country skiing. Herein, you will have the mind-blowing experience in which each four-man team races a ski jump followed by skiing of five kilometers. The expert persona of this game is the Austria’s Felix Gottwald who already has won six medals including two gold ones.
Men’s Snowboarding – Halfpipe Finals
This is among the newer sports included in Olympics since 1998. Truly speaking, this sport had lost its honor in its first screening – all thanks to the gold medalist Canadian Ross Rebagliati whose medal was taken away for a positive test of marijuana. However, the sport is back now and will American Shaun White, the famous snowboarder on Earth, will maintain its name.
Women’s Ice Hockey – Finals
This is where Canada will compete with the United States via a two-horse race that only started in 1998. With two gold medals for Canada and one for the U.S., this competition would be exciting for both the players and audience as to whether it will be a tie or not. Check out for Hayley Wickenheiser, the best player.
Men’s Short Track Speed Skating – 1000 Meter, Finals
Facing the tough challenge of swapping channels especially on a short track, this contest is really worth watching to admire the accuracy of these athletes. The man of three world records, American Shani Davis, would be worth watching during this event.
Women’s Aerial Skiing – Finals
The brave athletes would actually challenge the gravitational force to reach the skies whose scene would be breathtaking. Just bite your nails to see the rivalries coming down a slope and suddenly going for a jump to spin and twist high in the air. Do watch for the fearless face of American Ashley Caldwell who is just 16 years of age and an ex-gymnast.
Men’s Ice Hockey
This is the most awaited Olympic event that draws maximum audience and that its final is scheduled for the last day. I don’t think that there is any need of introduction or description of this sport. Check out for the NHL players performing for the fourth time as it is not sure whether they will play in 2014 and Russian Alexander Ovechkin.
I hope you are convinced enough for this list of top 10 Olympic Games that men should view.
According to the Greek history, the first Olympic Games in the Greek Antiquity can be traced back to the 776 BC. The games were dedicated to the 12 Olympian Gods and were hosted on the ancient green plains of Olympia, the place was famous for its magnificent great temples of the two gods Zeus and his wife Hera. The games initially had a very religious character combined by a number of ancient sport events, which many of those were based on the ancient Greek mythology.

The ancient Olympic Games had an important position in the life of the Ancient Greeks. The Olympiad it was a time of union, with a four-year interval. The participants came from every corner of the Greek world to compete for the ultimate prize, the olive wreath and the return to their city-states as heroes. But the Olympic values apart from the victory, it was themselves which had the special meaning in the Games, the noble competition and effort to combine the body, mind, and will in a balanced whole.

As the Olympic Games developed, so did developed the procedures such as the standard schedule of the events and the Olympic Truce. They Games continued for almost 12 centuries, until the Roman Emperor Theodosius banned them, in 393 AD, acussing them as pagan cults.
